ARRIVAL

We have safely arrived in Shanwei, China.  We departed Seattle at 2:00 AM on July 5, flew 11 hours to Taipei, Taiwan and the transferred to a 2 hour flight to Hong Kong.  In Hong Kong were we were met by a driver and spent the next 4 hours on the road to Shanwei, Jing’s home town.

We are now trying to rest a bit before venturing out for dinner.  The girls were great and the in-flight entertainment systems go a long way to relieve the boredom of a long flight.  We are all relieved to be here and are looking forward to getting to know Jing’s birth city.

Arriving in Shanwei makes us feel that we are really in China.  The girls are amazed by the chaotic traffic, the diversity of vehicle types, and the number of individuals that can ride on one scooter.  Xixi was delighted to see a man riding a motorcycle with an entire half pig draped over the back rack.  He was gone too fast to snap a photo.

We are having a little trouble connecting to Google via the hotel’s Wi-Fi, so I’m unsure how often these posts will go up.  I’m archiving them on our laptop and then will upload as access allows.
