BEIJING – Day 2

I’m too tired to spend time on a lengthy post, so this one will be brief. We had a packed day of activity centered on our visit to the Great Wall. We went to one of the wall locations about an hour outside of Beijing and spent a few great hours hiking the wall. We were given the choice of the “steep” route or the “easier” route. The girls choose the steep route, so off we went with a few other people from our group. It was a difficult climb, but so worth it. We all struggled with the steepness and large distance between the vertical steps. Our legs are paying the price, but the view from the watch tower (that we set our goal on) was phenomenal. Xixi has decided that she’d like to return and backpack the wall…just keep going and camp each night. I think that sounds like a great idea for our next trip.

We finished the day with a stop at the Beijing Olympic Park and an acrobatics show in the evening. We are all exhausted and looking forward to a 5 hour bullet train ride to Xian on the 16th. Next stop, Xian's old city wall, the Muslim Market and the Terra Cotta Warriors.
